The Community Path runs the width of the city on the old rail bed, and you can read the year off it — bikes and cut grass in June, boot tracks and salt grit in January. Salvador & Son Landscaping works both of those calendars around Davis Square, mowing and edging the small front lawns through the green months, then plowing driveways and shoveling stairs when the storms come up the coast. Winter here is less about acreage than about access: the walk to the door, the strip behind the parked car, the corner where the melt refreezes by dusk. Summer is the same properties in reverse, kept on a weekly cut with the borders trimmed and the clippings hauled off.
