About Ricky's Flower Market

East Somerville in May is a run of color along Broadway — window boxes going in, front steps swept, everyone at once deciding it is finally time. Ricky's Flower Market carries that energy into the yard, mowing and trimming the lawn, edging the beds so the planting has a clean border, mulching them dark, and shaping the shrubs that frame a front door. City yards give you a few square feet to work with, so every inch has to earn its keep. Through summer the grass is kept even and the edges kept honest; in fall the beds are cut back and the leaves cleared away. It is a small, bright kind of pride, repeated house by house.
