About F.A.Y.J.C

Spring Hill rises in terraces, and so do its yards — retaining walls, three steps up, a landing of grass the size of a rug. F.A.Y.J.C mows and trims those stepped lawns in late May when everything is growing faster than anyone can keep up with, then edges the borders and freshens the mulch so the small spaces read as deliberate. Working uphill in Somerville means carrying equipment more than driving it, and taking care not to track a wheel across a neighbor's bed. The payoff is a hillside of tidy green squares stacked above the street. In autumn the same terraces fill with leaves, and the cleanup starts at the top and works down.
