About C.J. McCarthy, Inc.

Scituate Harbor empties out in the fall — moorings pulled, hulls up on stands, the masts gone from the water — and the town settles into its own company for a while. C.J. McCarthy, Inc. keeps working right through that turn: lawns mowed and edged into the last mild weeks, cleanups that take the leaves and the summer's growth off before the ground hardens. When storms come up the coast the trucks go out plowing driveways, shoveling walks, and salting ice that forms fast in this wet sea air. By spring it is beds cleaned, mulch down, and the first cut of a lawn that came through the winter intact. From Front Street to the harbor's edge, the work follows the town's own calendar.
