About Berkshire Stone Builders

Every April the frost in Savoy heaves fresh stones up out of the fields, the same way it did when farmers first stacked them into walls along these upland roads. Berkshire Stone Builders works with that abundant material, building walls, steps and stonework that look rooted in the hills around them, and keeping the lawns and grounds beside them tidy. There is a slow, deliberate craft in fitting stone to stone so each course sits snug against the last. Set against Savoy's thin spring green and dark spruce, a newly laid wall or walkway looks less installed than discovered. Berkshire Stone Builders takes deep pride in stonework that belongs to this rocky town.
