By the middle of June the rhododendrons at Heritage are going off like a slow firework, and everyone in Sandwich is reminded that things grow generously here in spite of all the sand. Conolly Gardens and Landscape Design, Inc. keeps yards in that same spirit — mowing and edging on a regular turn, mulch refreshed, beds weeded and kept honest, cleanups at either end of the season. Lawn care on this side of the canal is mostly attention: what the shade is doing this month, where the ground stays wet three days after rain. Done right, a yard simply reads as calm, which is the hardest look there is to earn. Sandwich and the towns beside it are full of places worth that trouble.
