Rutland stands at the middle of Massachusetts and higher than most of it, which the weather seems to take as an invitation. D&Z Plowing handles the winter side of that — driveways and lots plowed, hilltop roads sanded and salted, a second round when the wind fills back in what the first pass cleared. In green season the same trucks carry mowers: weekly cuts, trimmed edges, mulch, cleanups in spring and again in fall. Late-day July light lies long across the fields toward the Ware River valley, and a freshly cut lawn takes it beautifully. Both halves of the year come down to one thing — leaving a place better squared away than you found it.
