By the middle of June the light in Russell hangs on until nearly nine, and the yards stay deep green through the long evenings. Mackay Property Services spends those long evenings mowing, trimming and shaping the ground around houses set back on long drives and quiet roads. A lawn cut in even lines against a cedar fence line looks like someone loves the place, and that is the whole point. Spring cleanups pull the winter's litter out of the beds and get mulch down before things green up; autumn takes the maple leaves off before the first hard freeze locks them to the ground. The work runs through Russell and out to the nearby towns.
