Up at Halibut Point the old quarries hold black water and the granite runs right out into the sea, and the town below lives by the same stone. P K Landscaping works the ground around it — mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups through the green months, then plowing driveways, clearing steps and walkways and salting the ice once the wind turns. Winter on the point arrives loud, spray freezing on the rocks and snow drifting wherever it pleases. Digging a house out of that is honest work. So is the first cut in May, when the whole place goes green again in about a week.
