Revere's front yards are small and fiercely tended — a strip of lawn, a hydrangea, a statue, a fig tree wrapped up for the winter. Revere Gardens works in that tradition, mowing and trimming and edging so the green sets off everything else, with mulch renewed in the beds and cleanups at both ends of the season. In July the salt air comes up off the sand and settles over the whole city, and a lawn kept at the right height takes that heat far better than one scalped in a hurry. The measure of the job is a dooryard that looks cared for from the sidewalk every week, not just the week after a visit. That is a modest ambition, and it is a good one.
