A northeast storm comes across Cape Cod Bay with nothing to slow it, and by nine at night the wind is throwing snow sideways over Warren Cove while the streetlights along the shore road go the color of wool. South Coast Creations is already out in it. Plows drop on driveways, walkways get cut down to the pavement, and the sand goes on the slick spots near the water where salt air has iced everything twice over. The work runs backward through the night — the same loop again and again, because a lot cleared at eleven is filled again by two. Then the wind lays down, the bay turns pewter, and Plymouth wakes up to open ground.
