February on the North River is all silver and stubble — frozen marsh grass, a tide sliding under skim ice, wind coming straight across with nothing to slow it. D&G Services runs its snow work in that weather: plowing residential drives and commercial lots around Pembroke, clearing steps and walkways, and putting down sand and salt where the melt refreezes overnight. The town's back roads wind and dip, so every property gets its own approach, learned once and remembered after. Nobody thinks about a driveway until it is four inches deep and the car will not move. Getting there before that happens is the entire job, storm after storm.
