First real cold snap, and Route 32 out of Palmer goes hard and bright before sunrise, frost standing in every field along the way. That is the changeover — mowers put away, plow blades on — and the work tips toward snow plowing, clearing walkways and steps, and salting and sanding driveways and lots. The other half of the year runs green: mowing, trimming, edging, mulch and cleanups that take a property from ragged to squared away in a single morning. Places around here tend to have room in them, which makes a finished job worth standing back to look at. Palmer, Monson, Ware, Warren, Brimfield, Belchertown and Three Rivers.
