West of town the water at Willett Pond holds the sky flat and still at first light, which is about when the trucks roll out. Mowing, edging, trimming and cleanups fill the warm stretch of the year, one Norwood yard after another, kept on a schedule so nothing ever gets ahead of itself. When the weather turns, the same hands take up plows, shovels and salt for driveways, walkways and stoops before the town is properly awake. None of it is glamorous and all of it shows. A clean edge in August, an open drive in February — the property never has to go untended.
