B. Mack & Son Sealcoating

About B. Mack & Son Sealcoating

Route 1 hums through North Attleborough all night, and on storm nights B. Mack & Son Sealcoating is out in the hum of it. The work is plain and it matters: a clean pass down the driveway, a shovel-width path cut to the front door, sand laid on the apron where a car will have to stop and start again. Snow behaves oddly here — wind crosses the open ground near the Bungay River and packs the drifts hard against the north wall of everything, so the last foot is the one that takes the muscle. By the time the sky goes gray over Whiting Pond the pavement is dark and wet again, and an ordinary morning is possible. Cleared, sanded, passable — that is the entire ambition, repeated every time the sky opens.
