When a nor'easter sets in over Newton, the pines at Cold Spring Park take the first of it and the streets around fill in from the edges inward. Garden City Contractors runs straight through those hours: plows on driveways and lots, shovels on walkways, steps and entries, salt and sand where the ice sets hardest. A storm is never one job but three, the clearing, the return once the curb wall appears, and the check at dusk when everything melts and freezes again. Newton earned the Garden City name in its growing months; in a December blow the same streets still have to open by morning. Making that happen, house after house, is the errand.
