On an August Saturday the north end fills right up — Acushnet Avenue smells of grilled meat and the feast tents go up a few blocks over. The yards behind the three-deckers are small and deep and fenced tight, and they still deserve a clean cut. Chaves Lawn Care takes them one gate at a time: mow, trim the fence line, edge the walk, sweep the clippings off the concrete before the gate swings shut. Spring means raking winter out of the corners; autumn means staying ahead of the leaves until the last one lets go. Small yards, done right, are what a neighborhood actually looks like.
