The ice on Lake Cochituate gives out in pieces, and for a couple of weeks Natick smells like wet earth and thawing lawn at the same time. Greenleaf Landscaping meets both halves of that year. In winter the plows and shovels open driveways and paths around the lake neighborhoods, with salt worked into the low spots where meltwater keeps trying to turn back to glass.
