In Siasconset the roses climb the shingles by July and the Bluff Walk runs past hedges older than the fences holding them. Sconset gardener mows, trims and tends lawns through the season, and clears snow from the village's drives and footpaths in winter. Down in Codfish Park the yards are small and particular; up toward Sankaty the wind decides plenty on its own. A cottage lawn cut close and edged around the brick makes the whole street look right. And in a February blow, a shoveled walk out to the road is the kindest thing on the block.
