Early June, and the dew on the lawns around Turner's Pond hasn't burned off yet — every blade holds a little light until about nine. D&D landscaping starts before that, because grass cut in the cool of the morning stands back up proud by afternoon. The route runs the flat streets near the water and then up the inclines toward the reservation: mowing, string-trimming, edging along walks and drives, clearing the cuttings so nothing is left but the pattern. A yard done properly is quiet — you don't see the work, you see the shape of the place.
