The Upper Charles Rail Trail runs an old rail bed straight across Milford, and in March you can watch the town thaw along it: banks shrinking, winter sand drying on the pavement. Spring flips it to cleanups, mowing, trimming, edging and fresh mulch in the beds. The changeover week is the best one of the year — last plow washed off, first mower up on the trailer.
