Nice Lawns

About Nice Lawns

Saturday morning on the side streets off Center Street: screen doors, a sprinkler running, somebody's radio, and a mower going two houses down. Nice Lawns is often that sound. The work is mowing and trimming on a regular schedule, a crisp line cut where the grass meets the sidewalk, beds tidied and clippings cleared so the whole yard reads as intentional. In winter it is the other half of the calendar — plowing the driveway, shoveling the steps and walk, and putting salt on the patch by the door where the ice always comes back. A neat lawn in August and a clear path in January are the same promise, kept twice a year.
