Middleborough covers more ground than any other town in Massachusetts, which means a snowstorm here is measured in miles of back road as much as in inches. Morse Construction takes that map on in the dark. Long rural drives get pushed end to end, turnarounds get opened wide enough for a delivery truck, walks and doorways get cleared by hand, and traction goes down where a shaded stretch has quietly turned to glass. By the time the school buses are moving along Route 105 and Route 28, the night's work has already disappeared into ordinary morning.
