A nor'easter announces itself over New Seabury hours before the first flake — pressure falling, the Sound going slate, the wind finding every gap in the hedges. Clipper Landscape runs the winter side of Mashpee: plowing, pushing the banks back, opening driveways and walkways while the storm is still deciding how long to stay. Coastal snow arrives heavy and wet, more water than powder, and it has to be moved early or it isn't moved easily at all. The best part of the job is never seen — a lot cleared at four in the morning so a car rolls out at seven as if nothing happened. Storm after storm, that is the entire ambition.
