About Arbor-Turf Services

There is a corner of Marlborough that people simply call the Desert — sand and pitch pine the glaciers left behind, dry as a beach in the middle of the woods. Cross town and the soil turns heavy and wet, which is the whole puzzle of growing grass in this city, and Arbor-Turf Services takes it lawn by lawn. In April the work is reading what a yard actually has underfoot before a single mower wheel touches it: where it drains, where it bakes, where it needs seed worked in. From there it is mowing on a steady rhythm, edges kept sharp, thin spots coaxed back until the whole lawn closes over green. A yard that holds its color into August was decided back in the mud of spring.
