2 Men Mowing

About 2 Men Mowing

Marlborough wakes in layers — the light finds the steeple above Union Common a good while before it reaches the yards on the side streets, and by then the mowers are already running. 2 Men Mowing works those quiet first hours, when grass still holds the night's dew and the cut comes up in clean bands behind the deck. There is a plain, honest satisfaction in a small city lot mowed square to its corners, the trimmer line singing along a granite curb, the walk blown clear before the shops downtown unlock their doors. Marlborough's hills mean no two lawns lie the same way, so each one gets read before it gets cut. By the time traffic fills the Common, a whole street looks like somebody loves it.
