Edgeworth is triple-deckers standing shoulder to shoulder, narrow drives between them and cars on both sides of the street — the hardest geometry in the city to plow and the most necessary. L & L Services handles exactly that: opening driveways, shoveling walks and three flights of front steps, breaking out the packed ridge the city plow leaves at the curb, and salting where boots have polished the ice to glass. Storms often start as rain here and turn over after dark, which makes for the heavy kind of snow that has to be moved in stages. The real trick is where the snow goes, not merely that it goes. By morning everybody gets down their own steps without thinking twice about it.
