Assawompset Pond is a great open plate of water in the middle of Lakeville, and once it freezes the wind runs clear across it and drops everything it is carrying on the far shore. Scenic View Landscape & Irrigation plows through that — driveways cleared, walks and steps shoveled down to the surface, sand and salt on whatever the cold has glazed over. Out past the bogs the roads run long and the houses sit back, so a storm here means real distance covered before the last drive is open. The work carries through the night and often into the next one. Then morning comes, the bogs are white, and everybody can get out.
