Late in the year the hills above Huntington turn all at once, and by the second week of October Route 112 runs through a tunnel of color that lands, eventually, on the lawns. Through the summer those same yards are mowed and trimmed on a regular turn, with the edges kept clean along walks and driveways. This is narrow country between Littleville Lake and the river valley, where a kept lawn stands out against an awful lot of wild green. Leaving one squared away is worth the drive up.
