At midnight on Main Street the Hudson storefront lights smear in the falling snow and the plows have the road to themselves. D&D Mulch and Landscape runs those hours, cutting lots open, stacking piles where they will not block a sightline, banking the aprons back so the next storm has somewhere to go. Downtown lots and mill-block back entries are tight work, all angles and curb lines and patience. Walks and doorways get shoveled and sanded by hand, because a house or a shop is only really open when the front step is safe.
