October on the Oak Hill roads is the loudest Harvard ever gets about beauty, the orchard hillsides going red and the leaf drop starting in earnest, and then one grey week in November it all goes quiet and the ground gets hard. Highgarden Landscape works both halves of that turn. Through the growing months it is mowing, trimming, bed and mulch work, and cleanups that strip a property back down to clean lawn and clean lines before the freeze; after it, plowing driveways, clearing walks and putting down sand or salt where the slope would otherwise send someone sliding. The long hill driveways in this town are their own discipline, and getting one open at five in the morning is a small victory worth having. A property that looks intentional in September and stays passable in February is the sum of a lot of ordinary mornings.
