Diego lawn and garden

About Diego lawn and garden

There is a week in Halifax when the last mow of the year runs right up against the first hard frost off the Monponsett ponds, and Diego lawn and garden works both edges of it at once. Through the warm months the crew keeps the grass low and honest along Route 106's quiet shoulders and back on the pine-shaded lots near the cranberry bogs, leaving a clean line where lawn gives way to woods. Then the light draws in, the water goes still and dark, and the same hands set the mower aside for the plow — pushing driveways open before the town has stirred, so a car can back out onto glazed asphalt without a second thought. It is plain, useful work, and it leaves a plain, good mark: a yard that holds its shape through summer, a path cut clean through the depth of winter.
