Grafton's common sits up on its hill with the bandstand in the middle, and the roads fall away from it toward the Blackstone and the Quinsigamond. Jerry's Lawn Services Inc mows and maintains the yards along those hill roads — weekly cutting, edging, string-trimming, mulching beds, and cleanups in spring and fall. By July the orchard slopes above town go heavy and dark, and lawns need cutting twice a week just to keep pace. There is a real pleasure in a clean line where grass meets a stone wall, which around here is most lawns. Down in the mill village along the river the yards are smaller, and the same care shows twice as fast.
