April on Brigham Hill is mud and birdsong and old stone walls surfacing out of the last gray drifts. Countryside Landscaping starts the year right there — spring cleanups, winter's litter raked off, beds opened up, that first mowing that makes a lawn look like it has decided to live again. Summer settles into mowing, edging, string trimming and fresh mulch; October brings the cleanups back, blowers running long under the trees. When the hill goes white the trucks change over to plowing, shoveling and salting driveways and walks, storm after storm until the ground reappears. It suits the name honestly enough: countryside work, in a town that still has plenty of countryside left.
