Rubble Busters

About Rubble Busters

By late January Beaver Pond has gone hard and grey, the little town beach at Chilson locked up until spring, and Franklin settles into the stretch of winter when the cold simply does not let go. Rubble Busters works that stretch. Plowing driveways and lots, shoveling out the walks and the ground around the steps, laying sand and salt where a thaw at noon becomes glass by six — it all comes down to keeping ordinary footing ordinary. The route runs storm by storm, and again whenever the street plow rebuilds the ridge at the end of a drive. Nothing about it is glamorous, and nothing about it can be skipped.
