In April the Sudbury River comes over the dam at Saxonville loud enough to hear from the sidewalk, and every lawn on the mill streets wakes up soaked and flattened. Rainforest Landscape starts there — raking out the winter's leavings, a cautious first mow, edges reopened along walks that frost shoved sideways. Summer settles into a steady rhythm of cutting, trimming and hauling what the cutting leaves behind. When December shuts those same streets down, the crew is back with the plow, working narrow drives where there is nowhere easy to put the snow, and putting it somewhere anyway. Two kinds of work, one town, both known by heart.
