The Millers River runs the length of Erving, loud in spring and iron-dark under the hemlocks by November, and the town's yards are cut from the hillsides above it. Chickadee Tree & Garden works those grades with lawn mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups. Then weather comes down Route 2 off the Mohawk Trail, the hollows fill fast, and the drives between the village and Farley drift over. Plowing, shoveling and ice treatment follow — a driveway opened before the road crews finish, steps and walks cleared to bare surface.
