In January the ponds at Borderland go glassy and the light comes late over the ridge, and by then Easton's driveways already need to be open. Palm Landscaping runs the plow through North Easton and Eastondale in the dark, clearing pavement, walkways and the turnaround by the back door, then laying salt so the first steps out are sure ones. When May turns the work green, it becomes mowing and edging and the clean seam where turf meets a fieldstone wall along Bay Road. There is a plain pleasure in even lines across a front lawn and a driveway with no ice left sitting in the shade. Snow or grass, the result is the same: a property that looks looked-after from the road.
