In late September, when the marsh grass out past Powder Point turns bronze and the bay light goes long and low, a Duxbury lawn seeded back in spring is finally thick enough to hold the wind off the sand. That is the work here: hydroseeding — a wood-fiber blanket carried over seed, starter fertilizer, root enhancer and soil enzymes — sprayed across raw ground for homes and businesses up and down the South Shore until bare loam becomes something that stays. Alongside it comes erosion control on a graded slope, lawn care through the growing months, and, when the wind swings north and the first storm packs the driveways off Tremont Street, snow removal cleared before the day starts. The satisfaction is a plain one and it lasts: a yard that came up even, a bank that didn't wash out, a path opened to the door while the harbor is still dark.
