Fix Our Lawn

About Fix Our Lawn

Dover in a storm is mostly hush — snow packing the tops of the stone walls, the Charles running black and open between white banks, the woods at Noanet holding everything still. Fix Our Lawn spends those nights on the town's long curving driveways, the ones that wind a few hundred feet through pine before they ever reach a door. Plowing here is a matter of knowing exactly where the wall ends and the lawn begins, and leaving both the way you found them. Walks are opened by hand, steps and the path to the mailbox cleared, sand down where the grade tips toward the road. Morning comes up blue and cold over the fields, and the way out is already waiting.
