The old rail bed runs east out of Douglas along the Mumford, and in January the whole line of it lies white and unbroken by six in the morning. Rodas Landscaping Inc. is up before that, plowing driveways and clearing walks so the first cars can reach the main roads. Once the ground thaws the work turns to grass — mowing week by week, trimming, edging, cleanups at either end of the season. Both jobs are the same thing at heart: giving people back their own property. Blacktop showing in winter, a straight cut line in July.
