By early afternoon the southwest wind comes up over Round Hill the way it does on nearly every summer day here, and it carries the smell of cut grass a long way inland. M.O.N. Landscaping Inc is somewhere out in it, working the week's route across Dartmouth — mowing on a set rotation, trimming, blowing the walks clean, keeping bed lines carved. Grass in July wants cutting more often than the calendar suggests, and the answer to that is simply showing up. The year opens with a cleanup and a fresh crown of mulch and closes with the leaves hauled off. Nothing dramatic in any of it — just a lawn that always looks like it was done yesterday.
