About Dartmouth Irrigation Company

Dartmouth sits on sand, and water leaves this ground fast — by mid-August the light coming off Buzzards Bay has pulled every drop it can out of a lawn. Dartmouth Irrigation Company works the early hours, when a system is heard as much as seen: the click of a valve, the first arc of spray catching sun through the mist over a cold yard. Heads get leveled, zones balanced, and the clock set to the way this particular piece of ground drinks rather than to some standard number. Come November the lines are blown clear and put to bed so April opens without a single split fitting. What that buys is a green that holds all the way through the dry weeks, and grass worth cutting on top of it.
