Midsummer noon by Nash Field: heat shimmering off the outfield, the Chicopee River bending along brown and cool under its trees. Prime Cut Landscaping does some of its best work in that glare — stripes laid straight, the trimmer taken around every post and hydrant, hedges squared off, mulch dark and clippings gone. Cleanups come twice a year, once to open the season and once to close it out. And when the valley finally turns, the same crew is plowing drives, shoveling walks and running salt through the night so that morning is only morning. Chicopee, cut short in July and cut open in January.
