Brett's Stumpgrinding

About Brett's Stumpgrinding

Brett's Stumpgrinding works the flat river ground of Chicopee, where the Chicopee River bends into the Connecticut and the old brick mill walls hold the last of the afternoon light. The work is stump removal and tree removal — grinding a stubborn maple base down below the grade line, taking out what shaded a yard for decades — and then the quiet finish: loam and seed raked over the raw circle until the lawn closes the gap and forgets. Loam and mulch go out by the truckload across Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut, to narrow backyards on Aldenville streets and to the open valley fairways where a stump has no business standing. When the valley turns and the snow comes down over the same ground, they push it back, clearing a drive before the streetlights blink off. What's left is honest and physical: level earth, new green where a stump used to be, and a clean path from door to road.
