Hilltown Tree and Garden reads soil, root crown, and foliage the way you'd read weather coming over the ridge, then trims, cables, and lifts invasive vine off the trunks so the tree can carry another century. Below that canopy the perennial beds get their hours: restoration and upkeep, the design and installation of plantings chosen for four-season beauty, low maintenance, biodiversity, native species, and the long view. Out past the garden wall they reclaim field and forest edge, opening sightlines toward the Westfield River hills until the land looks like itself again. Chesterfield sits high and cold above the Pioneer Valley, and a place tended this carefully holds every season it's given — green haze in May, gold in the gorge in October, bare architecture standing clean against the snow.
