Powder Horn Hill rises over Chelsea with the Soldiers' Home at its crown, and the streets that climb it are steep enough to make winter interesting. Stanley landscaping takes them on in both halves of the year — plowing and shoveling those pitched driveways, salting the aprons and stairs, and in the green months mowing, trimming, edging and running the spring and fall cleanups. Hill lawns dry fast at the top and stay soft at the bottom, so the mowing has to read the ground. Standing back from a hillside yard cut clean, with the harbor glinting past the rooftops, is a good way to end a day. Come January, that same slope cleared down to the pavement is just as satisfying.
