Ground Effects Landscaping

About Ground Effects Landscaping

Carver's light comes in low and sandy, filtered through pitch pine and skimming the flooded bogs until the whole town seems to hold a mirror up to the sky. Ground Effects Landscaping works in that light — designing and building landscapes, setting patios, outdoor fireplaces and plantings that look as though the ground offered them up on its own, then maintaining them week after week so they keep their shape. Trucks run supplies out across the South Shore, and when the wind swings northeast and the flakes come sideways off the water, the crews turn to snow management, opening lots and drives while the pines are still ticking with ice. There is a plain, physical pleasure in all of it: an edge cut clean along a walk, a stone joint that sits true underfoot, a parking lot black and wet by the time the coffee shops unlock. From Plymouth and Duxbury up through Marshfield, Hingham and Cohasset and on toward the Cape, it is the kind of work you notice most when it has been done well.
