About Plowguys of Greater Boston

Winter comes up the Charles as a flat grey light, and by the time an inch has gathered on Cambridge brick, Plowguys of Greater Boston is already out reading the sky. They plow, snowblow and shovel the narrow driveways and long sidewalks of Cambridge and Somerville, relocate and haul the drifts once there is nowhere left to push them, and lay de-icer against the glaze that creeps back after dark. Theirs is not one night's work but a season watched — a return trip mid-storm, another when the melt stiffens at a curb cut. In the green months the same routes soften, and lawn care keeps the small yards between triple-deckers trim and holding their shape. What they leave is plain and good: a drive opened before the commute, a walk with an honest edge, a street free to get on with its morning.
