Vine Brook threads quietly under Burlington's streets on its way toward the Shawsheen, and the common still keeps its bandstand and its white steeple at the top of the rise. Burlington Landscape works both halves of the year here: mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups while things are growing, plowing and shoveling drives and walks once they stop. Nor'easters come up the Route 128 corridor heavy and wet and then freeze hard overnight, which makes salt and timing matter as much as the blade. There is a particular hush to a February morning when the driveway is already open and the front walk is already clear. Come May the same yards are striped green and the year begins again.
